BRISTOL SC SU
Bristol Commercial Vehicles manufactured the SC (small capacity') and the SU ('short underfloor') in the late 50’s, early 60’s. The SC and the SU departed from normal Bristol practice in that some running gear was bought in, notably axles from Bedford and Austin and gearboxes from David Brown. The SU was powered by an Albion 4.1 litre, four cylinder diesel engine and had a 5 speed synchromesh gearbox. The SC was generally powered by a Gardner 4LW and replacement engines offered were Albion/Leyland Comet hybrids as fitted to the Albion Nimbus. West Yorkshire refitted one with a Perkins engine.Read More
